About the company:

We're a promising tech-savvy startup-moving-into-scaleup that created a tutoring marketplace in the Netherlands and have recently expanded to Germany. We have a fully remote team with people all over the world. It's working, we're growing fast, we've got excellent backing, and there are some very exciting times ahead for us. 🚀💪

Our mission is to help as many students as possible get the most out of their education, through accessible high-quality at home and online tuition. We do this by building an accessible high-quality product, with which we can solve the problems of a student in today’s world with, unfortunately, an inadequate educational system. In our product, the tutor and technology play a central role, and we’re constantly seeking new ways to help our students.

We're about 2.5 years old and launched our first product over a year ago. Ever since the launch, we have seen explosive growth in the number of students, tutors, and revenue. This growth resulted in more funding which allowed us to hire more talent to help us build a better product and accelerate our growth (like with the expansion to Germany). Our team has grown from 5 people about a year ago, to over 20 people today and we are continuing hiring to expand our team.

Our challenge:

With any explosive growth, there becomes the need to expand the team. Our development team currently has two front-end engineers and three back-end engineers and is led by our CTO. We are migrating from a legacy PHP frontend to an Angular single page application (SPA) and as our website evolves we want to share knowledge and adopt best practices in this domain. To enable us to improve in this field, we are looking for an expert to complement the team with greater focus and experience.

While migrating to the Angular Single Page Application (SPA), we are facing following challenges:

  • Upgrade to the next Angular version
  • Refactor to comply with best practices
  • Connect to new microservice and implement complex features
  • Support multiple languages and countries with all kinds of content
  • Optimize for Server-Side-Rendering
  • Nice addition: create a web-app

About the role:

  • We are looking for an Angular Developer who can take ownership and be the lead in developing features from technical design to communication with API’s
  • We need someone to challenge decisions and opinions to work with the team to find the best way
  • You will be a core part of our development team
  • You will work in an environment of freedom and responsibility where you can really take ownership of the role
  • Working full-time on an ongoing contract (30 hours per week)
  • You will have flexibility to choose your own hours around default team meetings and core working hours 10am-2pm Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday (CET) and 10am to 5pm on Tuesdays (CET)
  • You can work from anywhere you want!
