We have an exciting opportunity for a Relations Manager to join our team! We are expanding our EdTech scaleup Bijles Aan Huis & Lernigo....

About the company:

We're a promising tech-savvy startup-moving-into-scaleup that created a tutoring marketplace in the Netherlands and have recently expanded to Germany. We have a fully remote team with people all over the world. It's working, we're growing fast, we've got excellent backing, and there are some very exciting times ahead for us. 🚀💪

Our mission is to help as many students as possible get the most out of their education, through accessible high-quality at home and online tuition. We do this by building an accessible high-quality product, with which we can solve the problems of a student in today’s world with, unfortunately, an inadequate educational system. In our product, the tutor and technology play a central role, and we’re constantly seeking new ways to help our students.

We're about 2.5 years old and launched our first product over a year ago. Ever since the launch, we have seen explosive growth in the number of students, tutors, and revenue. This growth resulted in more funding which allowed us to hire more talent to help us build a better product and accelerate our growth (like with the expansion to Germany). Our team has grown from 5 people about a year ago, to over 20 people today and we are continuing hiring to expand our team.

The challenge

It is a privilege to experience this explosive growth and I can only be excited about where the company will be in a few years. But as we're growing fast, many challenges are rising. We identified some of our "Growth Pains" to be related to customer relation:

  • There is not enough attention for managing relations with our current 2000 tutors and students. They don’t feel connected to the company, because they miss a personal touch and don’t understand our company well enough
  • There is not enough attention for managing relations with newly registered students. From the beginning they should get the feeling that we are not just a matching platform, but offer more

    Fixing these challenges will improve our customer experience and lead to a higher customer lifetime value. We want to solve these challenges by adding more value and communicating this value better. That is where you come in!

Your role

Now:

  • During your first months you will call our Dutch students after they requested their first tutor. You will listen to their challenges, offer them your help in finding the right tutor and tell them about our subscription model that offers many advantages for them. You will gain insights on if they are happy with the platform and how the tutor communicated with them.

    Medium term:

    After the summer holiday you will play an important role in introducing a new user experience.

  • You will still have a ‘introduction call’ with the student but will also start with evaluation video meetings every two months with those who subscribed. For them, this is a free (and optional) meeting with the tutor and relation manager
  • You will call our active tutors twice a year to gain an understanding of progressions and their happiness with students and the platform

Role structure

We offer competitive compensation which is dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview stage. As the role is to be built, there will be less hours in the beginning and it will develop into a full time position.

Up to August 2021:

  • At least 10 hours per week

    After August 2021:

  • 40 hours per week (this is negotiable if you prefer to continue part-time)

What we think would be a good match (but feel free to convince us otherwise)

  • You are fluent in Dutch and have a good understanding of English
  • You have a good understanding of sales and the ability to promote products
  • You have some understanding of the schooling/tutoring market, so you know what customers want
  • You are empathetic and care about the good of our students and tutors (perhaps with some experience in topics that involve empathy or psychology)
  • You have a passion for smaller high-growth companies, with a very dynamic and fast-changing environment
  • You are somewhat tech-savvy (we love tools 😍)
  • You love taking on responsibilities/ownerships
